Adamas (アダマス,Adamasu?) is one of the Twelve Celestials in SaGa Scarlet Grace. He is the deity that presides over the art of blacksmithing and weapon-making. He is the one that taught humanity how to mine and refine ore, and how to forge all sorts of useful artifacts such as weapons or common tools. He's revered mainly in the town of Stahl in Marchiam Yaxart, known for producing tools and weapons of the highest quality in the world.
His constellation appears to depict a figure forming an anvil and a hammer, and has the elemental affinity of Ignis.
Adamas is portrayed as a fair-skinned man of muscular complexion whose face is covered by a golden horned helmet. Partially clad in a red garment and wearing various pieces of golden armor, Adamas holds in one hand his mighty hammer, which appears to be the symbol of his status as divinity.
Personality[]
Not much of Adamas' personality is known, since he doesn't make an appearance in-game. From one of the tales of the Minstrel, it can be inferred that Adamas was a kind-hearted individual that cared deep for his friends; the one of the tale being his companion dragon Kaldius. Even after the dragon was slain, Adamas worked tirelessly to forge him a new heart, just so he could live once again. Even when the revived dragon went on a rampage, Adamas could not bring himself down to put an end to him.
Etymology[]
Adamas' name directly stems from the Latin word Adamas which means "steel" or "hard."
Adamas is briefly mentioned by one of his priests in Provincia Gradion. When Leonard visits the Adamas Tower for information about Ei-Hanum, one of the priests states that Adamas' will allowed the rediscovery of various wondrous metals that were lost when the mythical city fell.
According to folk tales of the region, Adamas crafted a weapon for Marigan to defeat a giant Infernal that stood between Marchiam Ria and Provincia Cerenaif.
Folk tales speak of a tragic story between the god of blacksmithing and his friend. Some time before the Firebringer was banished, he visited Adamas and requested him to craft a pair of sandals. Adamas refused as he thought the trickster would use them for some nefarious thing. Angry, the Firebringer covered Adamas' hammer handle in beeswax. Unexpectedly, the hammer flew from his hand and landed on the chest of his friend, the dragon Kaldius, and in the act instantly slayed him. Grieving for the death of his loyal companion, Adamas set to bring him to life once again.
Day after day, he worked on crafting a heart in hopes of reviving him. Done at last, he created the miraculous object out of bronze, and placed it in the chest of the dragon. The dragon revived but only in body and not in mind; Kaldius flew from land to land sowing destruction and ruin. Lacking the strength to put down his friend, Adamas was helped by Imhokiel, who managed to capture the dragon in the furthest parts of the Northeast Boundary, behind a colossal gate he had created. Hoping to alleviate Adamas' pain, Imhokiel left the key of the door to Adamas, in case he would ever want to see his loyal friend once again.
Gameplay[]
Benison[]
"Since the discovery of ironworking, men have been able to make all manner of things―but they tend to stick to armaments."
—Description
Adamas' benison is called "Strength" and has a chance of activating when the enemy has very high defense, rendering most attacks useless. It grants a major attack boost to all retinue members until the end of the engagement.

Trivia[]
Despite Adamas' teachings and the benefits of metallic tools, metals remain as an unpopular forging material over common energy crystals.[1]
Although never stated, Kaldius, the Eternal Dragon, appears to have been Adamas' original holimont.
