Monika Ausbach (モニカ・アウスバッハ Monika Ausubahha?) is a main character in Romancing SaGa 3. She is a princess, and the sister of Mikhail.

Monika is loving and kind, and cares about the safety and welfare of those around her. She will go to any length to ensure that those she feels responsible for are safe.
Story[]
Prologue[]
Monika is walking around her castle late at night wondering about her brother, Michael and she hears voices in the throne room. She listens in on a conversation between Baron Godwin and her kingdom's minister. They discuss a plot to overthrow Michael and allow Godwin to become the new Marquis, suggesting that they will also eliminate Monika to achieve their goals.
A shocked Monika slowly walks away from the door and runs to Katharina's room, warning Katharina of what she had overheard. Katharina tells Monika that she will try to alert Michael of the ongoing threat but Monika states that she will handle it. Katharina complies with Monika's request and stays behind at the castle to cover for her. Monika dons an adventurer's outfit and opens a hidden panel in Katharina's mirror, exiting the castle and setting off by horseback towards her brother's camp.
She arrives at a tavern where Julian, Elen, Thomas, Harid and Sarah are shocked to see her. She explains the ongoing plot of rebellion to the group and enlists their aid in helping her get to her brother's camp. The group decides to escort Monika to her brother's camp, going through Shinon Forest to do so.
At Shinon Forest, the group encounters a Garuda Wing and defeats it, leaving Monika to think about rumors of the Abyss Gate having been reopened. She greets her brother at his camp and warns him of the plot to overthrow him as Marquis. Michael is appreciative that Monika was escorted by the group, promising to reward them upon their return to Roanne. He states that they must escort Monika to Podol to seek the assistance of the Vampire known as Earl Leonid. Although the group seems wary of the request, Michael reassures them that Leonid can be trusted and that he wants them to escort Monika so that she does not become a vampire.
Michael notices Harid and having known of his fame, asks him to accompany him. Harid leaves the group as they go on to escort Monika to see Leonid.

Recruiting Monika with Sarah.
Monika can be obtained at the start of the game by selecting her as the playable character.
If starting with another playable character, she can be recruited after Loanne Palace is reopened following the royal proclamation to hunt down Buné at Taftan. She can be found sitting in her room while wearing her princess attire. This will be the only time she can be recruited as defeating Buné will prevent the player from entering the Palace for the duration of the game.
Having Mikhail in the party will allow the player to enter the palace at any time. However Monika cannot be recruited if Mikhail is in the party as he forbids her from leaving the palace.

The Christmas-themed version of Monika was only available as an exclusive gacha unit during the Christmas event. The Anniversary-themed version of Monika was only available as an exclusive gacha unit during the Anniversary event.
