Imhokiel (イムホキエル,Imuhokieru?) is one of the Twelve Celestials in SaGa Scarlet Grace. He is the Celestial presiding over architecture and the one who built Provincia Cindrea's giant dam, as the first step of leading the heretical city of Ur-Saqqara to its destruction. His teachings encompass: geometry, stone and wood cutting techniques, ways of transporting materials and civil engineering. A favorite saying among his followers is that "there would be no human life without architecture".[1]
His unnamed holimont can be seen and fought several times in Azhuacan. It appears to be a purple hog with a helmet holding a hammer attached to its head. In the past, Imhokiel appears to have had a stronger holimont called "Wadjit", whose sculpture can be seen in Marchiam Numadica. It is unknown what happened to Wadjit as it never makes an appearance ingame. Could it have had something to do with Imhokiel's lifelong rivalry with Shaams?
His constellation depicts a series of tools forming a triangle and his natural affinity is Terra.
Imhokiel is depicted as a fair skinned man of long blonde hair. He's dressed quite similarly to Bartlett and his divinity symbol appears to be a golden staff with a hammer for head.
Personality[]
Not much is known of Imhokiel's personality, other than he appears to be a considerate and wise individual.
Etymology[]
Imhokiel's name takes some inspiration from the name of the ancient Egyptian erudite Imhotep, known for allegedly being the first engineer and architect of history. Also, Imhokiel's name could be a combination between Imhotep's name and the name of Ezekiel, who's an ancient Hebrew prophet that prophetized the future reconstruction of the ruined Holy Temple of the people of Israel.
Story[]
Minstrel's Tales[]
Provincia Cindrea[]
Not so long ago after the dam of Cindrea was built, a female crab was born there who would be unable to return to the Mare Termina to find a mate. Her cries of displeasure reached Imhokiel who ordered the Spirituals to make all crabs swarm near the reservoir in Cindrea.
Provincia Maurehua[]
Long ago, Shaams' rivalry with Imhokiel originated from a dispute they had a simple and common day. Shaams said that men wouldn't be nothing more than lower creatures without the laws he had created for them; Imhokiel disagreed and said that men wouldn't be nothing without the abilities of construction he had imparted to them. Their rivalry has continued ever since, which has led Shaams to try to show superiority by demonstrating his construction skills on one occasion.
Northeast Boundary[]
It is said that Imhokiel built the Winter Door to enclose the revived Kaldius, who went berserk after partially reviving with a bronze heart made by Adamas. Imhokiel left the key for opening the door to Adamas, in case he would want to visit his fallen friend.
Traveling Troupe[]
The Celestial Who Drowned Saqqara in a Single Night[]
Long ago, in what would eventually become Provincia Cindrea, used to be a city where a delusional man lived. Upon gaining power of the Celestials, the man sought to gain the favor of the Infernals, hoping to become the emperor of the world. The ever-watching Firebringer noticed him and reported of the man's ambitions to one of the Celestials. While the Celestial let the Firebringer choose how to execute the man and his followers, the Firebringer told the Celestial his power wouldn't be enough for the task. And so, the Celestial sent Imhokiel to build a dam around the man's city, upon which the Celestial's wrath would sink the man and his delusions of grandeur.
Gameplay[]
Benison[]
"The architectural techniques passed down by Imhokiel survived even the fall of the Empire and can be seen plain as day in structures the world over."
—Description
Imhokiel's benison is called "Fortification" and has a possibility of activation when the enemy retinue has strong attack power in comparison to the player's retinue overall defense. When activated, a giant tower-like structure will briefly appear to cover the entire retinue and then all members will get a huge boost to their defenses.
