Kada (カダ,Kada?) is one of the Twelve Celestials in SaGa Scarlet Grace. He is the Celestial of medicine who imparted all sorts of knowledge about medicinal herbs and techniques that would increase the resistance of the human body to illness and injury, choosing to avoid teaching forceful healing ways such as through surgeries or narcotics. Furthermore, immortality goes against his teachings.[1]
Kada's holimont is never seen in the original game. It was later added in SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions as part of a subquest for recruiting Mondo in the other character's stories. Kada's holimont, simply named "Protector" appears guarding his temple in Urbs Azhuacan. It appears to be part of the plantoid enemy type, appearing simply as a white-colored Spirit Tree.
His constellation depicts a figure resembling a mortar and pestle holding a hemp plant and his elemental affinity is of Ignis.
Kada is depicted as a fairly more divine being unlike his other companions. He's depicted as a black-haired man of fair skin who possesses four pair of arms. He's clad in black robes, having on his back an arc that contains several black needles. Unlike other Celestials, Kada's divinity symbol has a different appearance than the usual golden ornamented staff, appearing as a golden arc floating behind him.
Personality[]
Kada's personality can't be determined as he is very rarely mentioned, nor does he have a tale by the Minstrel in which he actively participates.
Etymology[]
Kada's name originates from the Japanese spelling of the name of the renowned ancient Chinese physician 華佗 (Hua Tuo). Alternatively, Kada's name could have taken roots from the Sanskrit term agada meaning "medicine", to which Hua Tuo's name is allegedly derived from.
Story[]
Taria's Story[]
Kada is mentioned by Kahn when performing the Provincia Yaxart pilgrimage; who expresses how awesome it would be if Kada would be able to grant limitless healing. Taria tells him that an Infernal is actually able the bestow such boon, the cost being having to keep fighting for all eternity while enduring limitless pain.
Gameplay[]
Benison[]
"The treatments bestowed upon the world by Kada have let humans live longer, better lives, and doctors far and wide often utter his name when their own skills fall short."
—Description
Kada's benison, called "Comfort", can sometimes activate when an ally has received heavy damage but has not been knocked down. When activated, a green orb containing all sorts of leaves descends; the ball breaks and all leaves cover the entire retinue while greatly recovering their HP.

Trivia[]
Several aspects of Kada's benison, Comfort, could have taken inspiration from Hua Tuo's legendary anaesthetic, the mafeisan (麻沸散). When translated, the mafeisan literally means "hemp bubbling powder".
