Riki (クーン Kuun?) is one of the main protagonists of SaGa Frontier. Riki has no known gender, though in official material he is referred to as if he was male. He is of the Lummox race of monsters, and he has both a humanoid and beast form. His home world is Margmel, a place filled with monsters of various races, mostly of the Lummox specie.
Profile[]
Appearance[]
Riki has a humanoid form as well as a beast form. Official artwork of his humanoid form portrays him with a thin body shape, brown fur covering most of his body, a pale skin tone, and green eyes. Riki has a ring of yellow and red fur around his neck. He wears a purple jacket, a mostly purple hat with color streaks coming from his body, and purple shorts with a yellow belt. His lower legs and feet are black, with the black fur cutting off at his feet, which has three white claws. His brown tail is also quite long, but mostly thin.
Riki's humanoid form's physical appearance in SaGa Frontier is unlike his official artwork, as he instead has a clump of seven short, tan spikes as his tail, and green hair instead of a hat. In addition, his feet are flat and blobby with no visible claws. This design does not transfer over to his appearances in future games such as Imperial SaGa, where he reverts to the official artwork's design.
Riki's beast form is portrayed as a quadruped fox like creature, with a mix of green and tan fur. He has many tan tails, and he has a ring of fur around his head. His muzzle and eye area is tan and the rest of his head is green, except for the inside of his ears which are red. Riki's underbelly is white. He has somewhat muscular legs, with his rear ones being green at the top and tan below, while his front legs are entirely green.
During battles in SaGa Frontier, he will take the appearance of a monster he has copied the abilities from, unless he hasn't done such a thing yet, in which case he will appear in his original Green Lummox form.
Personality[]
Riki has a naive personality, and a fascination with everything foreign to him - good or bad. When he arrives in Junk, he is told not to trust everyone he meets. Riki responds to this with excitement, hoping to meet bad people. Despite being told at multiple points that he is foolish, he never stops trusting people unless he sees them hurt someone. He does not initially understand espionage, and is confused when given an untruthful cover story. He always tries to do the right thing, and is willing to abandon everything he holds dear for the sake of his friends.
Story[]
Riki's homeworld, Margmel, is dying, and only the power of the legendary rings will prevent the entire region from being destroyed. Riki already has one ring in his possession, but all the rings must be brought together for the power to be strong enough. He has embarked on a search for the missing rings.
His main quest line revolves around him collecting the Rings of Power. He meets Mei-ling on Scrap and embark in a journey across the Regions gathering all of the Rings, up to the final confrontation on Margmel against the Master Ring.
Gameplay[]
Abilities[]
Riki has the power to copy abilities of the monsters he encounters, but he can only gain one per battle. Riki can learn up to 9 abilities, but only 8 of them can be retained as the default ability slot for Riki gets overridden every time he chooses to learn from a defeated enemy. In order to keep learned abilities, you must go to the ability page of the menu for Riki and move the ability to an open slot or swap it with an ability you are willing to lose.

- Riki's original name would've been Coon. It was scrapped in the international release since the word is often used as a racial slur.
