Sasha (サーシャ Sāsha?), also known as Aleksandra (アレクサンドラ Arekusandora?), is a playable character in SaGa Scarlet Grace. She appears to be the living embodiment of the Sublime Spiritual of Unda, possesing one sole task and that being avoiding the resurrection of the Firebringer at any cost.
Sasha physically appears to be of the same age as Taria. She's a pale-skinned woman of a slim and voluptous figure. Her eyes are of an amber shade and her hair is depicted of ivory color in her official artwork while her in-game appearance depicts her hair as white with light bluish shades. Her attire consists of a purple flower tied to her head, a sort of metallic choker around her neck along with various hanging pearl necklaces, a white translucent blouse on top of a blue shirt with cuts fashioned after a flower's petals, a large leaf-like collar at her back and blue palazzo pants with the same leaf-like cuts around the legs part.
Sasha appears to be a somewhat manipulative individual with no concept of remorse as seen during Urpina's Story when she explains Urpina her original goal of using Urpina's Scarlet Grace/Scarlet Shard to lure the Firebringer and use its owner to directly battle and attempt to defeat him. If done wrongly then, as she says, there wouldn't be much problem if the owner and their retinue would die in combat, as she could always find another person in hold of a Scarlet Shard to repeat the same process.
She also appears to be a quite short-tempered person as seen several times when Urpina holds on destroying a Scarlet Shard. This is especially seen in Normi after Urpina finds its Shard and holds on destroying it out of curiosity for seeing what it could really do after being suddenly approached by an Imperial Librarian telling her to go to Tidemarch to see the Shard's true power, which in turn annoys Sasha to no end. Despite all of that, eventually Sasha grows somewhat fond of Urpina and thanks her for setting her free from the Firebringer's influence which allows her to live a free life at last.
Sasha is found wandering in Gradion searching for someone that could help her destroy the scattered Scarlet Shards that fell to Earth after the Firebringer's recent seventh defeat. The reason for this is to avoid an eighth possible resurrection which could provoke another dangerous unbalance in the world's Spiritual energies. When Urpina enters Gradion she's approached by Sasha who requests her aid for finding and destroying the Scarlet Shards. If this is to be Urpina's second adventure then she can be ignored and the player can go start any other of the possible three Common Quests. However if Urpina has already cleared her second adventure and previously refused Sasha's request then she will promptly be forced to aid Sasha in her endeavor. Nevertheless, Sasha places a magic spell on Urpina's Ibex Ring which allows her to have a vision of where the Shard could have fallen in the form of a falling star.
Sasha remains mostly silent, only alerting Urpina of regions where a Shard could have fallen. Starting in Gradion, Urpina and Sasha get a glimpse of a Shard falling near the port to Azhuacan, when approaching the landing site they find a lone baby. Sasha says the baby must have the shard but Urpina disagrees and instead can or can not go to find the baby's parents. Depending on the choice the Shard is found on the baby's possesion or inside one of the mines, whichever was the outcome the Shard is destroyed and the search continues. When reaching Normi, the Shard is located in hands of a frozen thief who stole it from Westdorf. After found the Shard, Urpina says that before destroying it they should ask the Westdorf people for permission which slightly annoys Sasha. These events are further expanded if this scenario is Urpina's third adventure. Just after locating the Shard, the group is approached by an Imperial Librarian who tells them they should go to Tidemarch Cliff should they want to see the true power of the Shard, Urpina and Mondo agree on going yet Sasha gets really annoyed. Upon reaching the peak of Tidemarch, the Shard begins glowing and suddenly cracks in two the frozen North Sea and opens a way to the sealed North Sea Observatory. Annoyed, Sasha exclaims Urpina should really let her destroy the shard as her curiosity has been saciated. Should the group take a visit to the Observatory is up to the player. If agreed, Sasha gets even angrier but accompanies the group where they witness how the Shard generates an aurora which appears to somehow reduce the aggresiveness of the fiends living in Normi.
Another notable event occurs in Jusitania. Upon using the Ibex Ring, the Shard appears to have fallen near Donseilla Mine. The events here depend on whether this scenario is played on Urpina's second or third part. After reaching Donseilla Mine the group finds quite the commotion, there are several groups fervently searching for the Shard. The group approaches but is suddenly attacked by fiends, guards of Fomoire and even a nun of Astel. If this scenario is played on Urpina's second part then the group locates the shard after dealing with the attackers. However, if this scenario is played during Urpina's third part then they find the Shard has been already retrieved by the Order of Spira who intend to do something with it. The group pursue them to the Spira Tower where they witness how the Shard in tandem with the eye of the infernal Balor banish the Spira Order to an unknown place. Sasha just says they were "destroyed" and that nothing that happened there should concern the group. After leaving the tower, Urpina doubts about just leaving the eye of Balor there after witnessing its power but Sasha says that Urpina should learn when to really let go and to know that not everything can be dealt with just violence.
A major turning point can occur in Megdasse. If the events are played during Urpina's second part then the shard will simply be located at the hands of the Walomir king Adill. However if the events are played during Urpina's third part then Adill will offer Urpina to join him in his quest for forming a new empire. If Urpina doesn't agree with Adill then the Shard is never recovered but apparently gets destroyed by Adill sometime later. However, if Urpina agrees then Sasha gets heavily upset by Urpina's betrayal and attacks her group by showing her true form: the Sublime Unda Spiritual Blackworm. Eventually Blackworm is felled and thus Sasha is put to rest.
A major event can happen later. If Sasha is still alive by then and all eight of the nine Shards have been located, the group will be allowed to visit Hibernia again. Depending on what the player did and if this is played during Urpina's third part then after locating the ninth Shard, Urpina's Ibex Ring will be revealed to be the tenth Scarlet Shard and will get destroyed and the party will depart to Azhuacan to engage the Firebringer and put a stop to his resurrection. Upon reaching the Urbs the group is guided by Sasha through an underground route to the Central Palace where an entry to Ei-Hanum, home of the Firebringer, exists. Just after arriving to the Central Palace Sasha expresses her concern to Urpina stating that without the Ibex Ring she's no longer bound to engaging in fateful combat against the Firebringer and tells her to return to Rhonicum while she fulfills Urpina's fate in her place. Urpina denies her request and instead encourages her to lend her aid for the oncoming battle, as Ibex Ring or not they shall win no matter how strong The Wicked One could be. Eventually the Firebringer is defeated and Sasha thanks Urpina for her aid, which leaves her rather perplexed, and departs her side eventually being seen on the years to come traveling from land to land.
Alternatively upon reaching Azhuacan, if the scenario is being played on Urpina's second part, after rescuing Maximius Sasha will tell Urpina that she must destroy her Ibex Ring as this too is another Scarlet Shard. The player will be given the choice to destroy it or not. If Urpina agrees on destroying it then Sasha thanks Urpina for her help and departs. However if Urpina refuses to destroy the ring, she outright tells Sasha she's tired of her and in response Sasha transforms into the Blackworm as a final attempt of destroying the Ring. Despite her efforts, Sasha falls to Urpina's blade and the Blackworm is slain.
In Leonard's scenario, she collapses on his farm and sets him off on his quest for Ai-Khanoum
Sasha is recruitable in Urpina's scenario, while Alexandra is recruitable in Taria's scenario.
Recruiting Sasha in Urpina's story is a complicated process as it involves having first and foremost having Elysed be one of the player's most used units, then having Sigfrei's scenario be Urpina's second adventure after defeating the Earth Serpent in either Termina or Thracini depending on the player's choice, while also starting Sigfrei's events on any other region than Hibernia or Bicyniro as these regions can cause some problems regarding triggering flags of the second requirement for her recruitment: Starting the Scarlet Shards' scenario as Urpina's third and final adventure. Upon starting the Scarlet Shards scenario Urpina will be approached by Sasha and tasked to find the Scarlet Shards scattered across the world. While only five are needed to complete the scenario and reach the final boss, the player can find all remaining four shards if desired. Sasha's recruitment occurs after the player has found eight of the nine shards in any other region than Hibernia. If done successfully after Hibernia's events and re-recruiting Elysed, Sasha will join the player after reaching the Central Palace at Azhuacan moments before being prompted to travel to Ei-Hanum.
Aleksandra (Sasha)'s recruitment is easier in Taria's story at the cost of having her stats be slightly lowered. She can be recruited upon finishing the Scarlet Shard's scenario as Taria's second adventure. Just after the fifth Scarlet Shard is destroyed Kahn will ask Sasha if she would like to join the group, to which the player can or can not agree.
Sasha is recruited with all Unda incantations learned and leveled to Rank II. Originally she used to have the "Snowstorm" incantation at Rank III but this was changed in Ambitions due to an overall rebalancing of various characters and techs.
Sasha/Aleksandra comes with the highly powerful role "Spiritualist" which grants her an Extra Large (XL) boost to any elemental damage dealt by her. The only downside of this role is that her HP gets a fairly large visible reduction during any engagement, though this can be easily circumvented by having a protector unit with a weapon of high evasion (as one should during the endgame). Ideally, the protector should use the Aes Elemental Weapon as this one grants a very large boost to their evasion after being upgraded to its final form.
She comes with the Poison Pill formation and her specialty are incantations. Her INT value of 16/14 and her unique role allows her to inflict massive damage and serve as a strong healing support, easily making her one of the strongest units in the game. Especially if the player wants to take on the Scarlet Fiends and their true forms.
Sasha appeared as a free limited unit obtainable through the "Battle with Blackworm" event's exchange shop. She came with the "Water of Life", "Bubble Burst" and "Hailstorm" skills along with the learnable "Cold Amp II", "Recovery Boost III" and "Fired Up III" abilities. Overall her performance is rather mixed and poor compared to other free units, yet seeing she's one of the few free units specialized in Cold elemental attacks gives her some value even to this day.
Meanwhile in the global release, Sasha has received an exclusive alternate style for its one and a half anniversary during December of 2021, which is heavily focused on assisting her allies through party-wide heals, debuff cleansing and WIL/INT debuffing. However, just like her original version, this one has slightly fallen to disuse as more versatile units filling the same niche have been released such as Winter Princess White Rose, SS Mariah, ITOKEN, just to name a few.
