"It is my job to protect you, milady. Feel free to rest any time."
—Solon
Solon (ソロン,Soron?) is a character from SaGa Scarlet Grace. He is a minor playable character during Urpina's scenario. Seen by Urpina as both a vassal and her mentor[1], Solon is one of Urpina's trustworthy retainers that accompany her during her adventures around the world.
Facially, Solon looks kind of similar to the older Gustave XIII, sporting a blonde mane and having a well defined face. His attire consists of black colored baggy pants, a black colored shirt under a brown vest, black gloves and a white circlet on his forehead.
Personality[]
Just like Jamto, Solon is a stern and confident individual that cares much for his liege.
Story[]
Solon joins Urpina alongside her other retainers when she departs from Silmium to patrol the nearby grounds. Soon after Silmium is ravaged by the Earth Golems, Solon and the other retainers accompany Urpina in her quest for retrieving Maximius' help and rescuing Antonius, and later on her battle against the Firebringer. Following the end of the battle against the Firebringer, Solon makes a journey to the Southeast Boundary in order to attain arcane knowledge, likely guided by the rumours of a suppossed arch witch that inhabited there. Solon returns several years later to Silmium, just in time for the Great War, and fights to his dying breath for House Julanius.
"It is our job to protect you, milady―even at the cost of our lives."

Ending - The Hermit's Return[]
Urpina's Story
Solon spent a great deal of time at the Southeast Boundary in pursuit of mysterious and arcane techniques. He returned to Silmium at the outbreak of the Great War and fought for House Julanius until the very end.
Other Stories[]
Solon is seen traveling through some of the regions of the world in the other characters' scenarios. Interacting with Solon is sometimes required to recruit Mondo, but only after Urpina's scenario has been completed.
Seen in Marchiam Numadica, Solon is exploring Shaams' Cave, wondering if the ruins had something to do with the witches of the fallen Empire. To his surprise, the cave was nothing but a simple den for goblins.
Seen in Marchiam Yaxart, Solon is exploring the North Hole, as according to some rumours it may happen to be the true shrine to Tukuz. Sadly, it was yet another den for fiends.
Lastly, Solon is seen accompanying the other Urpina's retainers in battles such as when Zigor's ploy is discovered in Provincia Serenaif or when Zigor battles the protagonist in Provincia Cindrea to test the responsiveness of House Erakleos..

Recruitment[]
Solon is automatically recruited at the beginning of Urpina's scenario.
Performance[]
Can't really go wrong with having a mage right at the beginning of the game. As with other mages, Solon's performance depends on his stats and of the time of his recruitment. Being available from the start of the game gives Solon an advantage for learning and ranking magic earlier than his competitors. With a passable role and stats he's serviceable; his agility being the only downside that can be easily patched with stat-boosting equipment. His starting incantations (Thorny Fetters and Siren) aren't too bad as well, especially for Siren, which is something that can go in hand with another of Urpina's starting characters (Jamto).
